Broke Again!

I bought my first peice of my haste gear. Dusk Gloves!!

Its 3% haste 20 HP and some melee buffs. All in all, a pretty sweet peice of gear for my /nin setup. If cast timer fractions are rounded down, my flash and ichi recasts are reduced by 2 seconds each to 43 seconds, and my Ni recast is rounded down 1 second to 29 seconds.

I must say that i realy dont notice the difference while playing. But this is a game of inches, and with some more gear it will become noticable.

However, this peice ran me 4.3 million gil. I now have 80k in liquid assets, but over @30 mill in gear. Its a good thing that I own 100% of the stock in my Character, so People cant perform a hostile take over like in a stock market lol. Id be a prime target right now O.o

Before i bought this i went out with Seraphpdh and a DRK friend of his to pick up 3 Parade Gorgets. Its the latest rage in gear choices for PLD and DRK's alike. I love it.

Dahaps and i went out to get some more Buffer EXP in Sea with them. We were able to Chain 4 Grahm's and Flowers with little problems at all. Well, aside from the ocasional AoE or goof on utsi recasts. We were getting 70-130 exp a kill each. But only stayed for about an hour and a half.

Once we started to work out our rythem we never had to rest though. I think we may try harder ones another day.... maybey lol. If we can get a 3rd to come with us it will be very tempting.

But anyway, i am broke now. I dont like being this low on funds at all, but i saw the prices of some key gears begining to rebound. So, i jumped on my Gloves while i could. But now i need to farm.

And farm alot.

To that end i brought my new Chocobo to N.Gusta, in an attemp to grab some DS Ores. They arent worth making into ingots at the moment, but they should sell fast. And thats the most important part.

Up till today my all time high on DS ores was 5 in one trip. But with my new Chocobo, being "A Bit Deficient" Discernment, I dug up 7 ores. O.o a new all time high! I also walked away with 4 Mythril Beast Coins.

All told about 115k in stuff.

Its not often you can say that you more than doubled your Gil. Lol, it made me feal quite a bit better. Once i sell this ill have about 190k. Which still isnt very good for me. I prefer to have at least 1 Mill lying around.

Ill have to see how many DS ores i get on average with my chocobo before his Discernment goes up another tick. It will be interesting to see the difference in how many i can dig up per upgrade to Discernment.

It recently came to my attention that after X days you will be forced to involentarily retire your Chocobo. That means i have a limited time to try and teach it an ability/level stats. I hope i can get it up another tick at least before it reaches that point.

Regardless, i will not be raising another chocobo untl the October Version Update. They made mention that when that update comes around they will be shortening the amount of effort it will take to increase a chocobo's stats.

:/ This tells me that it is currently impossible to level a stat to 100%... Otherwise, they wouldn't need to lessen the amount of effort. Well, i put this much effort in it so, I'll see just how far i can get his Discernment before i must retire him.

Who knows, i may be able to make more gill of him as it levels. Thats my hope.

Things i have noticed so far:

1-A raised Chocobo still Fatigues after 100 digs.
2-You Cant raise 1 physical stat AND 1 mental stat, but you can raise 2 physical or 2 mental stats.
3-A raised Chocobo with Poor STR is considerably slower than a rental.
4-A Raised Chocobo with Poor ENDU lasts 16 minutes.
5-A Raised Chocobo with "A Bit Deficeint" Discernment has yet to dig up anything out of the ordinary, but quantity seems better.
6-Noone has made a post where they have actualy taught their chocobo a story yet.


#1 sucks... I feal realy bad for the lower level guys. It will take them YEARS to reach A10. As it is it will take me about a year myself to clear the stacks needed to go from A20-A10.

#2 This is a shame. I would love to increase Endurance and Discernment at the same time. Some thing in the back of my mind wonders if Endurance will effect how many digs you can get in before fatigue. Maybey, just Maybey the Endurance stat is not only for ride length time. But i cant tell without raising another chocobo or taking a hit to my current chocobo's Discernment...

#3 & #4 Intrigues me. It tells me that the stats you pump into a chocobo while you raise him, effect his performance outside of chocobo racing/careplans. STR will effect his speed considerably, ENDU will effect his riding time considerably. This lead me to believe that Discernment will indeed have a considerable effect on my Chocobo digging. Very encouraging. Its a shame that i dont think its possible to reach 100% in a stat yet.

#5 Is another thing that has been disapointing me. SE made mention that Raised Chocobos would be able to dig up items that cannot be dug up in any other way. As of yet, i have not recieved anything special. Not one thing out of the ordinary out side of a new time high of 7 DS ores in one trip.

#6 Is another thing that has ircked me. The Chocobo Stables persone made mention of the fact that Discernment is required to teach a Chocobo an ability. The last i checked my chocobo has the highest discernment of any chocobo out there. Well at least noone has made mention that theirs was higher. Perhaps You need to learn an ability to get at these special items.

I read through a post and found something interesting. It was a list of all the Stories and all of the Abilities. It seems that there are a couple abilities that may involve digging.

One ability is called Burrow, and the "conventional guessing" is that it is learned from the Worrisome Chocobo Story.

The other ability that intrigues me is Bore, and the "conventional guessing" is that it is learned from the Youthful Chocobo Story. However, i would think it was from the curious Chocobo Story.

There is only one way to find out ;)

One thing is for sure though, they both sound like they are an ability which will act similar to the dig command. This leads me to think they may be the means to access the special items hidden in the fields of Vana'Deil.
